Right to Educate #SupportMySchool

Education provides the base for a bright future. If we are providing education for two children, that means we are securing life of two generations. Children’s are future of our country, still some people think that to educate them is not necessary and mainly girls. In rural areas people don’t allow their daughters to go school even if they wish to, and you know the reason behind it.. They think girls are meant to stay at home as a household belonging, and their responsibility is to take care of family and stuff. And some brave girls who fight with their families for school and then get disappointed by lack of proper sanitation facilities and again they are forced to stay at home. Several studies in India have revealed that lack of basic amenities like toilets, access to water, and basic infrastructure creates an unwelcoming and non-conducive environment in government schools, leading to high rates of absenteeism, which results in children dropping out of school.

To tackle this problem Coca-Cola India & NDTV launched Support My School in association with the UN Habitat, Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) in 2011. It undertakes the following core activities
  •  Improved access to water
  • Sanitation facility
  • Improvement in the overall school infrastructure and environment
  • Provision for sports and recreation facilities and
  • Recharging groundwater through rainwater harvesting
  • With such necessary amenities in place, schools are able to provide a cleaner and healthier environment more conducive to learning.
Support My School is taking up Mission 1000 that is to revitalize 1000 schools in the country. With such necessary amenities in place, schools are able to provide a cleaner and healthier environment more conducive to learning. You may talk about the importance of such programs and mention how this has transformed the education standard of students and is in line with Swacchh Bharat vision.

Some big business men’s and actors are also actively taking part in this activity to make it a hit and why not, who will not want to be a helping hand in a social cause.
Nothing can be done alone, support my school initiative has been touching heights with over 600 schools already revitalized and work in another 200 schools underway, Approximately 200,000 children receive access to better sanitation, water, playing and other facilities, Panchayat, District Education Officers, Local elected officials, Teachers, Parents and Community members engaged across country.

The impact has seen increased enrollment in schools from 6.95% (2013-14) to 14.77% (2014-15).
